Flying Solo

Most people think when you’re flying solo that you’re all by yourself, but you have a pilot named God. You are the co-pilot!

How many of you like to fly? I’ve done it a few times, but it’s not my thing.

Sometimes when you’re on a flight you experience turbulence. It’s when the plane starts shaking.

I remember when I was 22, I took my first flight in the winter time. The only other time that I had flown was back to the states from Germany when I was an infant. I had no memory of it! Years prior to that I saw movies about flying. The plane we were on started shaking 10 years ago! I remember my anxiety started rising on the inside. Now on the outside, I looked cool as a cucumber. My family didn’t know that I was anxious because I just sat there silently. I was so happy when we landed!

Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

“23 Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.”

We are called to be obedient to God even in our singleness.

Have you submitted your plans and dreams to our Savior? He's longing for you to tell Him you're wide open to Thy Will in your life. Jesus has a future promised for you far greater than your imagination! He will unveil it on His ultimate timeline (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Remember it's out of our hands, God sits on the Heavenly Throne. Obey Him! Your reward from the Lord will be worth the wait!

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

My dad served in the Air Force for 20 years!

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

“31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Our Abba Father knows His children completely. He supplies everyone’s needs before they are even able to request it. Our Savior would prefer us to not waste His resources.

Sometimes it may feel as if your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling. Christ hears the longings of His children’s hearts. He has the perfect timing in store for when He’s going to answer our petitions. Keep speaking to Him! The Lord doesn’t ever grow tired of hearing from His sons and daughters. He delights in us, more than we could ever fathom!

Jude 1:3 (NLT)

“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.”

For several years, I have not been able to get the phrase ‘Dear God’ off my mind. The Holy Spirit kept on telling me I was supposed to do something with those two words, but at the time I wasn’t sure what. Now I know how to use them in today's lesson!

If we are not spreading the good news of the gospel, then what are we doing? We live in a world that is broken, but Christ can mend it and make it whole. God’s got this! He is reigning forever in our hearts because we belong to Him. Believers are imperfect and saved by the grace of God. Everyone should fall in love with the Lord. Let His love make you stronger in your daily Christian walk. How many people remember the WWJD (what would Jesus do) bracelets? I had a few of them along with many others in the early 2000’s. People would walk around, encounter a situation and say, “what would Jesus do”. The King of Kings provided daily wisdom for every problem we’d face and still does today. You can stand against all of your giants with the Savior! He knows us through and through!

Is Jesus your inspiration in everyday life? As His followers, we're supposed to display God's traits. The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22). May Christians receive wisdom from the Lord and follow His instructions. His living water will flow through us. Stand on the Biblical truth in our Savior's Holy Word and spread it throughout the world.

Psalm 23:6 (MSG: The Message Translation)

“6 “Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I'm back home in the house of God for the rest of my life.””

Place your heart in the hands of Jesus today! He holds it and He has the best in-store for you! One day, you will see why you had to endure this season of singleness. It may not be easy!  Remember that God is in charge of your love story. He writes the best ones! Trust and allow the One who handcrafted your heart to read it to you. Pray fervently and your Heavenly Father will give you the desires of your heart. One day you will look back when you meet them face to face. You will say these words, “They were worth the wait! The Lord knew what I needed all along.”

Salvation is like a box of chocolates! You get eternal life, healing, provision, and the list keeps going.

God gave you His heart through His Son, Jesus! Now it's time to give Him yours by letting Him in.

Pray this prayer for Salvation:

Heavenly Father, I admit that I’m a sinner and in need of a Savior. Forgive me of all my sins. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord. Come and make your home in me. I surrender my life to You, Jesus right here and right now. From this day forward I want to walk along the path of righteousness. Change me from the inside out with a fresh start. I desire wholeheartedly to live for You! In Jesus Name, Amen.

Welcome to the Family of God! We celebrate with you!

A.) Purchase a Bible or download a free Bible app. Then start reading.

B.) Get involved in a local church. Tell the Pastor or a staff member that you are a new Christian. They will have classes and educational resources available for you to deepen your relationship with Christ.

You are welcome to send me a message if you received Christ as your personal Savior today.
